Dancing with Her Baby

Sylvie does a little impromptu dance with her baby 'Zoe'. Her black eye did not impede her ability to get down.

Baby Loves Disco

Sylvie loves music. So do we and we found a perfect opportunity for us all to enjoy. Bryan and I took Sylvie to Baby Loves Disco at South Paw in Park Slope last weekend. It was strange to walk into a night club at 2 in the afternoon, but we got our grove on and had a good time. Sylvie broke out some of her special moves and of course, sucked on a few shaker eggs. Her favorite part, though, were the bubbles that would descend upon the dance floor. Good times!

You Should See the Slide!

I guess it's all part of toddlerhood - the falls, the spills...But it sure is hard not to feel guilty when it happens right in front of you. Sylvie went down the big slide at 9th street on her belly like she usually does, but this time bashed her eye at the very end. It all happened in slow motion and before I knew it, she had a big, fat, swollen blue eye!

So sorry to my friend Mick who came to Brooklyn to meet Sylvie for the first time and ended up playing nurse with me. You were a big help Mick. (Nice work with the puppet distractions).

Sylvie handled it all really well and thankfully our landlord, who is an ER doctor, came upstairs and assured me that she was fine. His mother always told him, "When a child falls, they grow". I took some comfort in that. All part of becoming a big girl I guess.

Halloween...Then and Now

What a difference a year makes! Sylvie was much happier this year as a pumpkin. The days of the crying fowl are gone. She enjoyed her second Halloween with all her little friends at a party hosted by Eva. It was a little insane and a lot of fun.

The Three Amigos

Sylvie got to spend some quality time with her cousins Jordan and Olivia on our visit to Western NY, or 'upstate', as we call anything north of the city. Nana and Pappa were in heaven having their three little ones together. I get the feeling we parents are just in the way.

Pumpkin Patch

We visited our family back home in Western NY a week ago and had a great time. Sylvie's Grandma took us to a pumpkin farm where she got to pick her own pumpkin, run through a maze of hay, and crawl through a tunnel. It was a blast for this city girl.

SMOOOOOOTHIE for dinner PLEEEEEEEASE!!!

Ahhhhhh. With 2 molars popping through, it was time for industrial strength smoothies. For dinner.
Whatever it takes, right?

Who Needs Sears Portrait Studio?

Lucky for us, one of Sylvie's favorite people, Statia, is an amazing photographer! She made this portrait during our photo shoot/play date on Friday, October 12th. It is one of my favorite pictures of Sylvie. We had a little more difficulty keeping the girls in one spot this time around. By the end of the day, Sylvie got the hang of it, sat on the white seemless, looked strait at Statia and said "cheese"! Nothing like a little ham with cheese.

Summer in October?

Who knew it would be 80 degrees on October 7th? Sylvie and Riley made the most of it and enjoyed Sunday brunch at George and Marti's followed by a romp in the pool. Not a bad life...

All in the Family

Budding Picassos

Sylvie and her BFF Zoe paint the world fantastic. Varying in style, Sylvie chose the total immersion approach while Zoe was much more refined, choosing a paint brush for her detailed masterpiece.
